Foundation Timeline


  • D-Will is nominated for the seasonlong Kia Community Assist Award for his work in the community throughout the 2012-2013 season.
  • On April 7th, Deron invites several local families affected by autism to be his guests for a game against the Charlotte Bobcats at Barclays Center. D-Will's guests get VIP treatment in his luxury suite and after the game get to meet and greet Deron for autographs and pictures. In addition, Deron plays in a special Autism Awarness blue pair of Nikes that he signs and auctions off for Austims Speaks.
  • Deron kicks off Autism Awareness month in April by filming a NBA Cares PSA to promote Autism Speaks.
  • Through a partnership with Red Bull, D-Will's play on the court during the 2012-2013 season has a direct impact on the Brooklyn community. As part of the Brooklyn's Got Wings program, Red Bull donates $150 for each of Deron's 604 assists during the regular season to a parks project that will refurbish public basketball courts through the New York Department of Parks and Recreation.


  • Deron rounds out the holiday season with a special event as part of his new partnership with Autism Speaks. Point of Hope hosts single mothers and their autistic children whose households were affected by Hurricane Sandy. Thirty families participate in the special event on the Saturday before Christmas at Distilled in Manhattan. They are treated to a special lunch, live music, activities for the kids and of course some presents while raising awareness for Austim.
  • One week before Christmas, Deron and his teammates head out to Cookies in Brooklyn to treat some kids from families displaced by Hurricane Sandy to a special shopping spree.
  • In early December, D-Will joins celebrities Jake Gyllenhaal and Bridget Moynahan, as well as his Team USA Basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski at ICAP Charity Day at the ICAP New York office. Deron takes calls with ICAP traders and 100 percent of all revenue brought in on the day goes to charity. Through the event, ICAP raises $17.7 million worldwide.
  • For his community work centered around the Thanksgiving holiday, Deron is honored with the Kia Community Assist Award for November. Kia and NBA Cares present Deron with a plaque and a check for $10,000 donated on his behalf to Point of Hope.
  • On the Friday before Thanksgiving, Deron, his wife Amy, their oldest daughter and some family friends visit Neighbors Together in Brooklyn to serve Thanksgiving meals to those less fortunate. In addition to their time in serving the meal, the Williams' present a check for $10,000 raised through Point of Hope to Food Bank for New York.
  • Wednesday, November 14th, Deron and his Nets teammates are back at work in the Brooklyn community, serving food to more than 250 homeless children and families at St. John's Bread and Life Program.
  • On September 20th, Deron joins Nets teammates in Brooklyn for Dads Take Your Kids to School Day at P.S. 67. The event is designed to stress the importance of a father figure in the life of a child. The players walked with students and community leaders in a large group from Brooklyn’s Ingersoll Community Center to P.S. 67. Once they arrived at the school, Deron spoke from the heart to the gathered kids and parents about what it was like for him to grow up without a dad. As part of the special day, D-Will donated $5,500 to purchase 300 book bags and school supplies for each student at PS67.


  • Kyle Korver returns to Utah and once again partners with Deron for the Dodge Barrage Tournament.  Now in its third year, the tournament continues to expand with teams coming from Utah, Arizona and California.  Funds raised from the event benefit the Boys and Girls Clubs of Midvale.
  • In July, Deron returns to the University of Illinois campus for the Illinois Alumni Basketball game.  The game features many of the stars from the program’s past.  After the game, the Point of Hope hosts a social mixer and fundraiser benefitting the University of Illinois’ I Fund.


  • In conjunction with Fleming's Prime Steakhouse, the Point of Hope Foundation holds its 4th annual Christmas dinner for single mothers.  Twenty single mothers and 60 of their children attend this year's event.  Every attendee is provided with dinner and a gift sack to help brighten their holiday season. 
  • The Point of Hope Foundation and the Utah Jazz once again partner together with the Salt Lake City Mission to bring Thanksgiving dinner to Salt Lake City’s underprivileged.  Deron, Amy and other Point of Hope volunteers are on hand and assist in serving over 4,500 meals at this year’s event. 
  • Deron and the Point of Hope partner with the charities of fellow teammates Kyle Korver and Ronnie Price for the 2nd annual Dodge Barrage Tournament.  The 2010 event increases in size by 50% and moves downtown to the old Salt Palace.  Through their combined efforts this year’s tournament raises over $72,000 for Point of Hope, the Kyle Korver Foundation and the Ronnie Price Foundation. 
  • The 4th Annual Deron Williams Golf Classic and Gala event is held in Salt Lake City.  This year’s event is focused on raising funds and awareness for the Salt Lake City Shriners Children’s Hospital.  The highly successful event includes a social dinner with auction and golf outing, and raises $70,000 for the hospital.


  • Deron brightened the holidays for several families in need this year with a Christmas celebration made possible through his Point of Hope Foundation. On December 13, sixty guests, consisting of families with mothers or fathers serving in the military, dined at Fleming's Prime Steakhouse in mid December with Williams and his family. 
  • On November 23, the Utah Jazz, EnergySolutions Arena and Deron Williams Point of Hope Foundation collaborated with Salt Lake City Mission and Utah Food Services to feed Salt Lake's homeless and low-income population. Amy Williams and the Point of Hope Foundation served Thanksgiving dinner to thousands of people in need.
  • The Point of Hope Foundation donated 1,400 school supply kits to Edison Elementary and Whittier Elementary both in Salt Lake. 
  • Point of Hope donated to Kyle Korver's Foundation Coat Drive
  • Deron Williams Point of Hope Foundation & Kyle Korver Foundation launched the inaugural Dodge Barrage Tournament, which raised money for the Christmas Box of Salt Lake City, UT.
  • 2nd Annual Deron Williams Illini Hoop Legends Charity Event in Champaign, IL 
  • 3rd Annual Deron Williams Golf Classic Event in Salt Lake City, which raised money for JDRF


  • 2nd Annual Point of Hope Christmas Dinner. Deron and Amy Williams provided Christmas gifts to local single mothers and their children as well as dined with them at Fleming's Steakhouse. 
  • On Tuesday, November 25th, the Point of Hope Foundation and the Utah Jazz hosted a Thanksgiving dinner celebration for Salt Lake's homeless and low-income population in conjunction with Salt Lake Mission. The dinner was held on the main concourse of Energy Solutions Arena and Deron and other Utah Jazz players came to help serve. More than 3,000 meals were provided to individuals. 
  • 2nd Annual Deron Williams Golf Classic Event in Salt Lake City, which raised money for the Carmeen B Pingree Center for Childern with Autism 
  • 1st Annual Deron Williams Illini Hoop Legends Charity Event in Chicago, IL
