Deron Williams and Kyle Korver may not play in Utah, but they'll be returning this weekend to continue a charitable tradition in Salt Lake City.
The New Jersey Nets All-Star and the Chicago Bulls sharpshooter, in partnership with their non-profits the Point of Hope Foundation and Kyle Korver Foundation, are hosting their third Charity Dodgeball Tournament on Aug. 27 at 8 a.m. at The Factory, 4425 North Thanksgiving Way, Lehi, Utah.
Members of the public are encouraged to participate and can register by visiting pointofhopefoundation.org (see event details below). The first two teams to register for the event will have the opportunity to play in an exhibition dodgeball game (captained by Williams and Korver) in front of the crowd. Tournament proceeds will benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Midvale via the Point of Hope Foundation and the Seer Group, the Utah Branch of the Kyle Korver Foundation, which builds handicap ramps for children in need.
"After spending six years playing ball in Utah, I feel a strong connection to that community," Deron said. "It is a lot of fun to partner up with my former teammate Kyle, and bring our Foundations together to really make an impact on an area that holds a special place in both of our hearts. This is exactly what the Point of Hope Foundation is all about – helping those who need it while bringing communities together and having a great time!"
"I'm really excited about this year's Dodgeball Tournament and encourage anybody and everybody in Utah to join us and help make a difference. Last year's event was awesome, and this time, it will be even bigger and better," said Korver.
"Deron and I have been friends for years, since our days playing together in Utah, and we are committed to partnering up on unique events like this one to give back to those who need assistance. Regardless of where I play, the Kyle Korver Foundation will always have an active presence in Utah."
