Deron Announces Partnership With Bonobos

by DeronWilliams.com Staff, February 03, 2012

To match his style on the court, Deron Williams is stepping up his game off of it.

Deron partnered with Bonobos for a launch event Thursday night in New York City

On Thursday night, D-Will announced a partnership deal with Bonobos, the largest internet-launched apparel brand in the United States.

"I've been following Bonobos for years and love what they're doing both from a fashion and charitable perspective so I couldn't have picked a better teammate, to support my foundation," Deron said. "I'm thrilled for the opportunity to enter the fashion arena and to share my style point of view with both the brand and my fans."

Sharing a passion for fashion and philanthropy, Bonobos and the Nets' All-Star point guard have aligned in support of The Point of Hope Foundation, founded by Deron and his wife Amy.

The invitation only event on Thursday night at Catch Roof launched Bonobos' new Foundation Suits. It also gave Deron and Andy Dunn, CEO and co-founder of Bonobos a chance to begin their work for Point of Hope.

Deron will work closely with Bonobos over the next few months on style-centric projects to raise awareness and funding for Point of Hope, a program that he founded to support at-risk children by elevating their lives through educational and recreational programs.

Upcoming projects will account for D-Will's personal style and fashion influence in a number of unique initiatives. Deron will even be jumping into the designer's seat to create limited edition apparel and he'll host a web-series to answer style questions from fans.

These collaborations will be the first of their kind for both the premium men's brand and the professional basketball player. A portion of the proceeds from each initiative will be donated to The Point of Hope Foundation.

"Bonobos is about great fit and easy style. We serve men who are confident, driven, dynamic, and selfless. We are excited that Deron's style and personality line up so closely with Bonobos." Dunn said. "He's a tenacious athlete, looks fantastic in Bonobos, and is dedicated to service. We are honored to be in partnership with him."

WEEK IN REVIEW: SCORING IN BUNCHES

Numerous injuries this season have meant that the Nets need Deron Williams' best performance every night to have a chance to win. Deron has answered the call, particularly well over the last week.

D-Will averaged 28 points in three games this week, but he also hasn't forgotten his playmaking ways. No. 8 also dished out assists at an average of 7.3 per contest.

It started over the weekend in Cleveland, where Deron was a marksman in New Jersey's 99-96 win over Cleveland, going for a team-high 27 points on a night that saw him drain 5-of-9 shots from 3-point land. D-Will collected 10 assists for his fourth-straight double-double.

The Nets could dress only 10 players at a most inopportune time: playing on the road against the Pacers, one of the Eastern Conference's better teams this season. Indiana ultimately won, 106-99, but No. 8 keyed a furious comeback effort, scoring 34 points on 10-of-20 shooting,

If New Jersey thought dressing just 10 players a night earlier was bad, Wednesday's situation was even more dire. Only able to dress eight players, Williams again put the Nets on his shoulders to record his fifth-straight game with 20 points or more, scoring 26 in a 99-96 win against the Pistons.
